[Briefly, the network receives a transmission from Sasuke's pokégear. The feed shows a dark bedroom, a pokéball and a note on a bed as the sun starts to set, its light filtering in through the nearby window. The note on the bed reads 'To Sasuke', and when the gear drops it shows him just standing there.
It's like that for a good few minutes before the feed clicks off again.]
-----
[Some time later, Sasuke decides to send out a quick text to the entire network. He does have something he has to say to the others he's travelling with later, but right now he wants to get this out first.]
Why do you battle your pokémon?
[He doesn't even know what to expect out of that question, only that he's probably going to get a lot of responses and he's probably not going to agree with all of them, or possibly any of them. But he's feeling lost, and maybe it'll help give him a clue. In the meantime, though, he has something else he wants to steel himself for.]
I'm leaving Vermillion tonight, through the Diglett Tunnel. I'm going alone.

*Sounds like she's about to cut the feed and, wait, nope.*
...Also your hair is the weirdest I've seen so far here.

[Not in the mood to even acknowledge the hair thing.]

I... it's what you do? It helps the Pokemon grow stronger, and, at least two of mine really seem to enjoy it.

And when they lose?

What's that matter? It's not like any of these trips are all win situations.

Filtered - Imogen is still being mostly sane, huh.
Filtered - Surprising, considering the subject matter.
Filtered - Oh the pleading sane Imogen is weird.

[Video, because having a text reader and being able to type are two different things]
[Text forever, and fair enough]
Why would they want to?
[Video forever, because illiteracy is cool]
It depends. Fearow likes to fight because he wants to get stronger, so he'll look for other Pokémon who want to fight. Furret likes the feeling of winning, so she usually only fights if she thinks she can win. She ended up being a lot weaker than the others since she didn't fight as much, so lately she's been fighting more to get stronger and to teach her son how to fight if he needs to. Sawsbuck sometimes gets bored and wants to fight for something to do, and sometimes he feels like he wants to get stronger. Firaga just thinks that fighting's fun and treats it as playing. The others aren't as interested in fighting, but they will if we get attacked or if Fearow or Sawsbuck can convince them to, like they did when they were training to challenge some of the gyms.
I hate seeing them get hurt, but they're okay with risking it to fight, so I let them fight if they want to. I try to avoid other Pokémon who want to fight when we're traveling and I tell them to ask the other Pokémon if they want to fight before they attack though.
Fighting seems like it's something that a lot of Pokémon either like or are okay with. [His tone implies that he's not in love with that idea, but is reluctantly starting to accept it.]

Why would they risk fighting when they don't like it?

Though I would protect her even if the Pokémon wouldn't be here or wouldn't be able to help for some reason.

[A pause, and it's obvious the next part is just a little difficult for him to say.] I'll come back, some time.
