[Enjoy that threatening text, network. Blame the fact that he doesn't have the bastard's pokégear information for it being broadcast publicly, though. But anyone who's around Sasuke at the time will likely see it as the first explicit show of emotion from him since he arrived in Route.]

And making yourself a martyr or a larger target is going to help them how? Sora's not the type to let a friend go off alone.

How do you intend to do that? Kill him? No one can die in this world, and you can't send him back to his world, either. Attacking him is probably only going to make you and your friends targets, which would probably mean that Sora takes another attack meant for you. Do you really want that?

[Long silence, because he really is thinking over what Lightning is telling him. But he doesn't want to admit that she might have a point. Maybe.]

I'll cut ties. I won't let anyone else get hurt because of me.

[It was less complicated when he didn't have friends.]

["That's what scares me. I don't want any of you to get hurt because of me." It's an old memory, but one she'll never forget. If that's the path this kid is going down, it won't end well.]

That won't work. It's their choice, and nothing you do will keep them safe if they want to help you. You're better off getting out of the way and working with them instead of trying to protect them by being stupid.

[More long silence, because the more he's reading the more he's thinking that he might be wrong. But, the one thing that's overriding everything else is still in the front of his mind, and he ends up sighing to himself before finally texting back.]

I'm better off alone. And they're better without me.

How do you figure that? How do you honestly think they'd be better off without one more person watching their backs? Sora and Riku would have made enemies on their own eventually, and this still might have happened.

You can't say you'd be better off alone, either. What do you think would have happened if you'd been alone and still gotten the cookies? You'd be on your own with a sick team and no one to back you up. That's one of the fastest ways to end up in the Center for more than a night.

I've gotten strong on my own before. I'll do it again. And I can't let Riku, Sora, or my pokémon get involved any more.

What, so you do the "honorable" thing and take this guy on in a fist fight, on your own? Do you have a death wish or something? Because that's one of the stupidest plans I've ever heard. He's not going to give you the same courtesy and you'll get your ass kicked. What good will you do then?

You can't afford to be stupid, either, but you're doing that anyway. You're already off to a bad start and all you've probably done is make him laugh even harder. You need a plan before you go charging off at anyone, so unless yours is to be as stupid as you possibly can be, you might as well just go up to him and let him have the first dozen blows. It would do you the same amount of good.

[He's lucky this is text and not something with a working audio connection, or he'd hear just how scathing her tone is. Kid really hit a button there.]

But go ahead. Run off and fight him alone. See what good it does when you've got no back up and no real plan and the others go help you anyway. You'll do more harm than good that way, and you'd realize that if you stopped and used your head instead of your anger.

It's my fault this happened in the first place. The least I can do now is make him pay, and I'm not putting them in harm's way again for vengeance.

[Though Lightning can't see it, she's making a heavy impact on him. The words are hitting him hard, and more and more he's feeling his anger wash away into guilt over what he could -- should have prevented.]

Then don't get vengeance. It never solves anything; it only takes more the longer you try and get it. Besides, what's to stop him from getting vengeance on you in return if, by some miracle, your plan actually works? Nothing. You'd be alone and an even bigger target.

[Etro, let her be getting through to this kid...Riku's got enough to deal with and he doesn't need to be talking him down, too.]

Instead of revenge, you should be focusing on training. Make yourself and your team stronger so you can protect your friends without needing to be stupid about it. You can do more good by being there with them to help them instead of putting them at risk by charging off. Then it really would be your fault.

I can't do that.

[Even if almost two months had passed, Sasuke is still feeling pretty horrible about his pokémon getting beaten as badly as they did. Shaking his head, he sighs and texts again.]

I'm not risking my pokémon again either. My training is what I need for me to take the vengeance I want to take.

Bowser isn't the one I need to focus on.

[Not the one he needs to be focused on--oh, for the love of Etro, kid, that should tell you enough!]

If he's not the one you need to focus on, then why are you even bothering to get angry with him? Focus on other things, like actually training with someone that'll make you stronger instead of weaker.

You keep saying you don't need anyone or that you'd be better off alone, but if that was true, you wouldn't want to get revenge for Sora or your Pokémon. You'd have been doing everything alone since you got here.

[She knows your type, Sasuke. She used to be like you, in some ways.]

[Dammit Lightning quit pointing out the holes in his logic! Except that angry logic really isn't the best logic, and he's starting to feel a little more tense and defensive. Especially since it's starting to feel like she's seeing through him.

Maybe it was, but you have them now and you know that. You can't just run off and think they'll be better off or safer without you now. They need you as much as you need them.

[That's how friendships work, after all...it's a two way street.]

[More frowning at the text. He's definitely calmer, but at the same time it's making him feel even more guilty over what happened. Over Sora and his pokémon getting hurt because of Bowser's grudge against him. How he had failed to stop it from happening.]

I'm still too weak for them to need me. But that will change.

[His frown is now mirrored because his comment on being weak is bringing up more bad memories, and she knows it'll take more than a lecture to get through to someone thinking like this. Especially since she doesn't really know him.

So why does she care? Because of that experience she had. She knows how this can go, and she wouldn't wish it on anybody.]

Because of what your actions will do to Sora and Riku. You practically referred to them as your friends already, and when you have friends, you know that your actions effect them as much as they effect you. I don't stand for people hurting the people I care about, and that's pretty much how this'll end if you go through with it.

[If the chance arose, she'd throw a few punches in Bowser's direction herself. But not without a plan and without warning others, first. That's what this kid's not getting. Why will he not see reason?!]

[He's seeing this again after his little 'explosion' at Sora and the resulting conversation after, so again it starts to hit home more than it had been.

That doesn't mean he has to like it. Sasuke is going to keep up with his bad habit of just not responding when he feels he has nothing else to add anymore, leaving the message hanging there. At least, for the moment..]
