[When the video feed pops up, it briefly shows the sunny sky and some of the familiar scenery of New Bark Town before a rather unimpressed boy appears on screen. The music has already started to irritate him (since he can't seem to find the source and, eerily enough, it's everywhere), but that's not all that's bothering him.

In fact, one of his eyes visibly twitches when an excited chirp sounds and a cute orange bird peeks at the PokéGear's screen. It seems like he's still thinking over exactly what he wants to ask however, and after he manages to coax the bird to sit still -- well, for the moment anyway -- he finally turns to the PokéGear and indicates the creature beside him.]

What is this thing?

[Someone isn't very talkative. Then again, there are several other things wrong that he'd rather not bring up, all things considered.]

He pauses, then indicates the little monster on his head.] Not quite.

Chic! Torchic! [As if on cue Torchic pipes up happily, nestling more into Sasuke's hair where he could.]

Why not? Uu-.. anyone at all can use friends, always more friends! [ she goes back to pouting, good job, sasuke. ] The more friends you have, the more fun you have too!

[Wow, that Torchic's his polar opposite. Riku covers his mouth, fighting back a laugh, while his Charizard grunts and gives the camera a thumbs-up.]

Looks like somebody's enjoying the limelight.

[Riku and Charizard get a nod from Torchic since he really can't do much else in terms of movement. Sasuke, on the other hand, is just giving Riku a flat look for the amusement.]

Either way I'm stuck with him.

I doubt it. [Someone's being pessimistic...

It doesn't seem like Torchic shares the sentiment, as he just takes to settling more onto Sasuke's head and tilting his head at Judith with a questioning peep.] Torchic!

[He doubts that's what really happened, but it's not like he doesn't have his own secrets to keep. He just nods.] Fine.

Chic! Torchic chic! [The bird bounces in place a little, for once seeming concerned instead of cheerful as he leans towards the camera.]

Hey, it could be worse. At least you didn't start with a ghost type.

[Well, Riku's smirk isn't fading any time soon, and neither is Flare's. Though that may be in part because they're used to obnoxious teammates.]

What would a ghost type do? [Maybe the question will distract from just how humiliated and kind of pissed he's starting to feel in the face of the dual smirks.]

Most of them are huge pranksters. To put it into perspective, my Haunter once graffitid a local landmark just for laughs.

[And a pretty crucial one at that. No respect for history, it seems.]

Anyway, if you wanna get to actual civilization before you run out of food, I'd suggest you start walking.

It's a good three-day trip to Cherrygrove from New Bark.

[Considering what he's been though and what his profession was, there isn't too much that can unsettle Sasuke. At least, he thinks there isn't.]
