[When the video feed pops up, it briefly shows the sunny sky and some of the familiar scenery of New Bark Town before a rather unimpressed boy appears on screen. The music has already started to irritate him (since he can't seem to find the source and, eerily enough, it's everywhere), but that's not all that's bothering him.

In fact, one of his eyes visibly twitches when an excited chirp sounds and a cute orange bird peeks at the PokéGear's screen. It seems like he's still thinking over exactly what he wants to ask however, and after he manages to coax the bird to sit still -- well, for the moment anyway -- he finally turns to the PokéGear and indicates the creature beside him.]

What is this thing?

[Someone isn't very talkative. Then again, there are several other things wrong that he'd rather not bring up, all things considered.]

[He sighs and glances off towards the route before he decides to just walk while the call is going. It's almost starting to feel like he misses Naruto. But, you know, he doesn't.]

Hn. [Don't mind him, he's just grumpy. Not only is this thing cute, it's almost unbearably happy. It reminds him too much of certain people, but he doubts that the Torchic is trying to hide some emotional turmoil and is just genuinely happy to be there with him.]

Depends what they are. You can buy actual, like, kibble and stuff in the stores, and most of 'em tend to be pretty happy sharing whatever it is YOU'RE eating _{[Sometimes obnoxiously so, at least in Heather's experience.]}, but I think most'll forage in the wild while you're on the road if you let 'em, too.

[And that's all he'd reveal on that, as any more would be crossing the line into 'far too personal'. So, quite abruptly, he cuts off the feed and puts away the pokégear for the time being, trying to regain his composure once more. Just the thought of it all was enough to bring about a lot of unwanted emotion...]
