What are some good water pokémon to catch and train for battle?

[The question is simple, and it's definitely a serious one. He flicks the feed off soon after, simply sitting there on his bed in the hotel and continuing the work that he started.]

[He hasn't really talked much to the others since arriving (save for Riku and Kairi), and at about that time he's content to continue being left in peace as it's one of the rare times where Sasuke is keeping all of his pokémon in their balls to rest. But, it probably won't last for long, considering that he left the door open to get a breeze going through the room. All the while, he's diligently stitching a particular symbol onto the back with the thread he has, and upon closer inspection one would easily be able to notice that it's the same as the one on the back of his current shirt;

Blastoise has pretty good defense and some good resistances. Gyarados has good attack, but it's got a four times weakness to Electric 'cause it's Flying-type. Starmie's super fast with a lot of resistances, but it's Psychic and it's weak to, like... Ghost and Dark. Bug, too, but who even uses bugs?

What're you looking for a Water-type for?

... I'm planning on catching and training a few different bug type pokémon.

I want a water type because I'm starting with the Kanto gym challenge instead of the Johto one. A water type will help balance my team.

Oh, then I'd definitely go with Starmie, or maybe a Vaporeon. I beat him with a Blastoise, but I was, like, way overleveled. I just beat him last week; he was my sixteenth badge.

[Briefly, he hums and looks over the pokédex entries of the different pokémon she's mentioned. Blastoise looks like a good choice with a good moveset, although hard to get. Gyarados did have impressive attack, but looking it over more closely Sasuke can't justify keeping it. The story was similar with Starmie, and that's about when he gets to Vaporeon.

His eyes widen just a little and he looks over the entry with interest. And then... There's the snag. His frown returns and he closes up the pokédex for the moment.]

Blastoise looks like my best bet.

Vaporeon and Starmie both have, like, way better special attack than Blastoise, I'm pretty sure. And Old Man Pewter's whole team pretty much sucks on special defense.

That said, the shell blade is a pretty cool technique to watch and he is paying close attention to it. Which means he's quiet while staring into the feed.
