Route 29 Character Information
Character
Name: Sasuke Uchiha (うちはサスケ)
Series: Naruto
Timeline: End Manga Chapter 139/Anime Episode 80 – Post-Konoha Invasion Arc in Part I
Canon Resource Links: Click me!
Personality: To anyone initially meeting him, Sasuke would appear to be a quiet, cold, and arrogant individual who cares about nothing but his own goals. He is usually in control of his emotions and keeps them hidden from the world, making him appear to be the image of an ideal shinobi. However, there are certain subjects capable of bringing out his more poisonous hatred, which causes him to brood when it’s mild and lash out violently when it’s not. Considering what said subject matter is, his reactions to it could be seen as both normal and extreme at the same time.
Having long-forgotten how to trust in people, Sasuke cannot express himself or his emotions as effectively as he should. Again, he will keep his emotions and problems locked away with the feeling that he has to take on all of his own ambitions, responsibilities, and tasks alone, without any form of aid from others (as he frequently saw the need to rely on others as a form of weakness). In more recent canon development for him, this has diminished to allowing trusted others to help him and utilizing their skills in order to take the advantage in the situations he finds himself in, and finding that using teamwork isn’t as much of a personal flaw as he had first thought. He found it especially helpful in taking down opponents who were too much for him to fight by himself, allowing greater combative prowess for not just himself but for his squad as well.
Sasuke is also constantly trying to evaluate his own strength in comparison to his peers, always trying to make certain that he remained ahead by far enough and was always growing stronger. As a result he trains and pushes himself almost constantly, barely leaving enough time for the necessities in his life (such as food, personal hygiene and rest), criticizing himself upon any failures or even upon letting his peers come to close to his strength. Personal strength and the need to be the best are obsessions of Sasuke’s, and he will not relent on improvement in himself at almost any cost. However, at this point, there are still some things he would refuse to give up for power.
As of late, Sasuke has allowed certain individuals to become important to him. Because of this, signs of devotion and dedication to his team have started to surface in his behavior, the first obvious act being one of sacrifice in order to attempt to save a teammate from what he thought was certain death. He has also shown rage upon seeing his comrades injured and took swift vengeance against the culprits in the past, and most recently he willingly pushed his body too far and let poisonous chakra corrupt him in his efforts to save the lives of his endangered teammates again. Even with his worries about being surpassed by the teammate he had initially dismissed as a foolish failure, he still sees the value of the others' and his own continuing growth, although he will continue to push himself harder so that he can gain that edge over said teammate again.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Weaknesses:
- Obsessive to a fault
- Passive – Goes with the flow of the situation
- Arrogant
- Not Trusting
- Quick to self-sacrifice
- Disregards self-limitations
- Uncooperative with others (gradually diminishing)
- Prone to panic when completely overpowered
Strengths:
- Steel-trap mind
- Able to think on the fly
- Able to take care of himself (cooking, budgeting, cleaning, ect.) (has been doing so since he was eight)
- Dedicated to improving himself and his abilities
- Agile and physically fit
- Very perceptive eyes – able to catch minute changes in environment
- Observant
- Goal Oriented
Fears
- Indecision
- Being completely overpowered
- Not being strong enough to kill his brother
- His brother
- Being surpassed by his peers
